UNICOM Global adopts next-generation IBM DS8900 storage to expand hybrid cloud offerings

Mission Hills, CA, November 17, 2021 – UNICOM® Global today announced they have purchased the latest IBM DS8900 family of IBM Storage to complement IBM Z. This upgrade is in addition to UNICOM’s January 2021 purchase of an IBM z15™ and reinforces the foundation of UNICOM’s multi-platform digital transformation, legacy application modernization and hybrid cloud solutions, which are hosted at the UNICOM Technology Park Innovation Labs in Chantilly, Virginia.

Presently, UNICOM and IBM jointly serve IBM Z, IBM Power systems, and Open systems customers in more than 70 countries. “The IBM z15 strengths are further amplified via our purchase of the IBM DS8910F and it is a key part of UNICOM’s emerging technology strategy,” said Corry Hong, UNICOM Founder, President and CEO. “The DS8910F is built off the IBM POWER9 processor technology, the same technology that runs two of the most powerful supercomputers in the world.
